There already exists an impressive literature on Jihad and Jihadism. So, there should be a very strong argument for publishing another book on Jihadism. Professor Farhad Khosrokhavar has delivered a very convincing argument with this research project on Jihadist ideology. His book provides a fresh and different approach to this problematic. He has combined the classical works on Jihadism with the completely new waves of Islamist authors. His work is also unique in dealing with both Sunni authors of various affiliations and the Shi‘a radicals both in Iran and in Lebanon.

Departing from an anthropological perspective, Farhad Khosrokhavar demonstrates the crucial role of Jihadist ideology in its multiple forms and shapes. Indicating the different faces of the same ideology once formulated in discourses and implemented in praxis.
